Many of the region’s top attractions are within just one hour’s drive, making it easy to explore historic sites, charming villages, waterfalls, monasteries, and beautiful natural spots. It is a wonderful base for discovering Central Bulgaria, with the freedom to enjoy a different destination each day and return in the evening to peace and comfort.

Velico Tyrnovo

Veliko Tarnovo is one of those places you fall in love with almost immediately. Just 1 hour from our guesthouse, this beautiful town welcomes you with a unique atmosphere, stunning views, rich history, and the special charm of its old streets. Once the medieval capital of Bulgaria, it still carries the spirit of the past — especially around the impressive Tsarevets Fortress, rising high above the town. The old town feels made for wandering, with its cobbled streets, characterful houses, little shops, cozy cafés, good restaurants, and lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Buzludzha and Shipka

Buzludzha and Shipka are among the most striking places to visit from our guesthouse, where history, mountain scenery, and panoramic views come together in one memorable route. Just 40 minutes from us, the Buzludzha Monument and the Shipka Pass are iconic Bulgarian landmarks, especially appealing to travelers who enjoy unusual places, history, and dramatic views from above. Shipka is known for its memorial church and its important place in Bulgarian history, while Buzludzha stands out for its monumental architecture and unique atmosphere. This is a route for those who want to discover a more powerful and memorable side of Bulgaria. The trip can be nicely combined with a visit to the Rose Valley and the Damascena Rose Museum, which is about 1.15 hour from our guesthouse. During the rose blooming season, this route becomes even more special, and in June and early July it can also be combined with the Rose Festival and a walk through the blooming rose fields.

Sokolski Monastery and the Etar Open-Air Ethnographic Museum

Ivanili Waterfalls

Ivanili Waterfalls are a nice option for a short nature outing when you simply want a change of scene and a bit of quiet. They are only about 25 minutes from our guesthouse by car, so it is easy to fit the trip into a slower day. It is the kind of place where you can take a walk, listen to the water, spend a little time in the greenery, and slow down for a while. A good choice for guests who prefer calmer places and less obvious routes.

There is plenty to enjoy close to Little River Guest House without planning a full day trip. Just a short drive away, guests will find a leisure complex “Sinkevitsa” with an outdoor swimming pool, sports facilities, and a lake that is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. Nearby, the natural park of Lyulyatsite offers peaceful walks, forest scenery, and marked eco trails, while the Gradishte Eco Trail is another lovely option for guests who enjoy gentle hiking and beautiful views. This area is ideal for walking, birdwatching, nature outings, and relaxed outdoor time close to the guesthouse.

Gabrovo is also close by, with cozy cafés and restaurants, the well-known House of Humour and Satire, the Interactive Museum of Industry, and a lively festival atmosphere. The town is especially known for its Days of Humour and Satire and carnival celebrations, while other cultural events, music programmes, and city festivals take place throughout the year.
